Alexandria,
a cosmopolitan city with lots of history
We got up early in the morning to take the bus to the train station, fighting Cairo traffic all the way. Under the protection of up to 40 police men we got ino first class seats for a 2.5 hours ride to Alexandria. It was a very busy day:
plain clothed police
The Roman amphitheater was only a block away from the train stop:
The Alexandria Bibliotheca was a very impressive place
the planetarium
Then we went to Montazah for lunch and a walk in the Garden, and to Qait Bay Fort (which was built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria).
